KI-ISN Early Career Researcher Award: Basic Science
The KI-ISN Early-career Researcher Awards recognize outstanding research in basic and clinical science published in Kidney International (KI) in 2023.
Dr. Wenbin Liu is a clinician-scientist and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) nephrologist at Beijing University of Chinese Medicine (BUCM) in Beijing, China. Currently immersed in his postdoctoral research in Dr. Anlong Xu’s lab since August 2023, he is supported by the China Postdoctoral Innovation Talent Support Program. His research focuses on the immunopathological pathogenesis of autoimmune glomerulopathy and the therapeutic mechanisms of TCM. After completing his B.S. degree at Capital Medical University in 2017, Dr. Liu pursued postgraduate studies in TCM internal medicine under the mentorship of Dr. Baoli Liu. During this period, he also underwent standardized training for TCM physicians. Following the completion of his training and the attainment of his M.M. (Master of Medicine) degree in 2020, he enrolled in the medical Ph.D.program at BUCM. Under the guidance of Dr. Anlong Xu, he conducted basic science research on glomerular diseases and successfully obtained his Ph.D. from BUCM in 2023.
Dr. Liu was named one of the KI-ISN Early Career Researchers for Basic Science for his paper, Single cell landscape of parietal epithelial cells in healthy and diseased states [https://www.kidney-international.org/article/S0085-2538(23)00267-3/fulltext].
