The Origin of the Universe
Daniel de Florian, a full professor at Universidad Nacional de San Martín and a senior researcher at Conicet, holds a Ph.D. in physics from Universidad de La Plata (1995).
He conducted postdocs at CERN and ETH-Zurich. He has mentored numerous students and published a book and over 200 scientific articles.
Professor de Florian’s research focuses on elementary particle physics. His calculations of Higgs boson properties were essential to their discovery and establishment at the Large Hadronic Collider. He led the LHC Higgs Working Group from 2013 to 2016 and continues to coordinate its theory group.
He has received various prestigious awards, including Houssay (2005), Academia de Ciencias (2007), American Physical Society (2008), Guggenheim (2008), The World Academy of Sciences (2014), Humboldt Research Award(2016) and Konex (2023).
Professor de Florian is a member of the National Academy of Sciences of Argentina and Latin America.
