Priya Pais
ISN Clinical Research Award: 1st Place
ISN Clinical Research Awards recognize the three top-scored WCN’23 abstracts related to projects funded by the ISN Clinical Research Program.
Dr. Priya Pais is a pediatric nephrologist at St John’s Medical College, in Bengaluru, India, one of the largest stand-alone pediatric nephrology centres providing accessible care to children with kidney diseases, especially kidney replacement therapy. She is passionate about studying factors that result in inequitable access to care, such as socioeconomic barriers, caregiver burden, and the ethical dilemmas encountered while caring for children with chronic kidney diseases.
Dr. Pais serves on IPNA’s SRC committee and is the incoming chair of IPTA’s (International Pediatric Transplant Association) outreach committee. She greatly enjoys learning from and collaborating with experts and colleagues from around the world. In 2021, she was awarded an ISN Clinical Research grant to study the costs and outcomes of pediatric CKD in three low-middle-income countries. With this data, she aims to begin advocacy efforts to improve patient outcomes in low resource settings and is keen to learn more about achieving this goal!
Dr. Pais’ abstract: Costs and Outcomes of Pediatric CKD (COPE) Study: Catastrophic Healthcare Expenditure, Financial Burden and Patient Outcomes in 2 Private Sector Referral Centers in India.
The Clinical Research Awards will be presented in the ISN Awards Session 2: Roscoe R. Robinson Award and Schrier Award session on Saturday, April 1, 2023, 11:45-12:45, in MR 110 ABC.
