ISN-KI Early Career Researcher: Clinical Science

The ISN-KI Early-career Researcher Award recognizes outstanding research in basic and clinical science published in Kidney International (KI) in 2022.

Dr. Batte was named one of the ISN-KI Early Career Researchers for Clinical Science for his paper, Neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin is elevated in children with acute kidney injury and sickle cell anemia, and predicts mortality.

Dr. Anthony Batte is a Lecturer and Pediatric Nephrologist at Child Health and Development Center, College of Health Sciences, Makerere University, in Kampala, Uganda. He completed his postgraduate training in Pediatrics and Child Health from Makerere University and had a Pediatric Nephrology fellowship training at McMaster University, in Ontario, Canada. His current research focuses on epidemiology, pathophysiology, and biomarkers of kidney disease in children with malaria, malnutrition, and sickle cell disease.

The ISN-KI Early Career Researchers will be acknowledged in the Editors’ Pick of ISN Journals: KI and KIR session taking place Saturday, April 1, 2023, 08:30-10:00 Bangkok time, in MR 110 ABC.
