Dr. Anita van Zwieten is an epidemiologist and lecturer (Teaching and Research) at the School of Public Health, University of Sydney, and Centre for Kidney Research, Children’s Hospital at Westmead, in Westmead, NSW, Australia. Her PhD, which was awarded the Peter Bancroft Prize, focused on understanding socioeconomic inequities in health across the life-course and among people with chronic kidney disease (CKD).
Dr. van Zwieten is an expert in socioeconomic inequities in health among people with CKD, with experience in social, life-course and clinical epidemiology. This is reflected in her appointments as a member of the Australian and New Zealand Dialysis and Transplant Registry Pediatric Working Group; Australian and New Zealand Society of Nephrology Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee; International Social Epidemiology Society Student and Postdoctoral Committee; University of Sydney Faculty of Medicine and Health Early-Mid Career Researcher Subcommittee; and her appointment to the Editorial Board of Kidney International Reports. She has given oral presentations at national nephrology/public health conferences, receiving the Kidney Health Australia Award at the 2022 ANZSN meeting, and being a Finalist in the 2018 ANZSN Young Investigator Award Session (Clinical Science).
