David Harris
APSN Kenzo Oshima Award
The Asian Pacific Society of Nephrology (APSN) Kenzo Oshima Award recognizes individuals who have made substantial contributions across their professional lifetime to the development of nephrology in the Asia Pacific region.
Professor David Harris is a Professor of Medicine in the Sydney Medical School, University of Sydney, and the Director of Nephrology and Dialysis of the Western Sydney Renal Service, New South Wales, Australia. He is also a National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) Investigator.
He is Past-President of the International, Asian Pacific, and Australian & New Zealand Societies of Nephrology. Awards include Member of the Order of Australia (2019), life membership of ANZSN (2022), inaugural ANZSN Leadership Award (2021), Richard Yu Award of the Hong Kong Society of Nephrology (2017), Honorary Membership of the Japanese Society of Nephrology (2017), Distinguished Professorial Award (Sydney University, 2016), the Priscilla Kincaid-Smith Medal (2012), and the APSN Ross Bailey lectureship (2008).
He has published more than 400 papers and given more than 270 invited national and international presentations. His major clinical and research interests include progressive CKD and dialysis, and his laboratory interests are focused on pathogenesis of and novel therapies for progressive CKD.
Professor Harris will receive his award in the APSN Awards Session: Kenzo Oshima Award, Excellence in Basic Science Award, and Haiyan Wang Lecture on Friday, March 31, 2023, from 14:15-15:15 Bangkok time in MR 110 ABC.
