Dr. Giorgina Barbara Piccoli graduated from medicine and then specialized in nephrology in Turin, Italy, and then worked as nephrologist for the University of Torino. In 2007, she became the head of the Nephrology Unit and teacher in charge of the nephrology course in the San Luigi Hospital. In 2016, she moved to the Centre Hospitalier – Le Mans, in Le Mans, France, as head of the Nephrology Unit. In 2022, she was appointed associate professor to the University of Angers, France.
Dr. Piccoli’s main clinical and research activities are CKD, with particular regard to diabetic and elderly patients, pregnancy and kidney disease, home hemodialysis and tailored approaches to dialysis treatment, green nephrology, history of nephrology, and ethical aspects of nephrology. Her research activity (over 400 indexed publications) mainly consists of clinical studies. She is the editor in chief of the Journal of Nephrology (international journal of the Italian Society of Nephrology).
