ISN-KI Editorial Fellow

The ISN-KI Editorial Fellowship, designed for early career kidney care professionals, provides training opportunities for reviewing and critically evaluating manuscripts and managing editorial responsibilities within the context of a world-renowned nephrology journal. The Editorial Fellows will train alongside the Kidney International (KI) editorial team from October 2023-2025.

Dr. Griffith Perkins is an early career researcher from Adelaide, South Australia, with a background in the lab and expertise in experimental and clinical immunology. He currently holds the Mary Overton Research Fellowship at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, and appointments with the University of Adelaide Medical School and SA Pathology. In 2022, Griffith completed his PhD investigating COVID-19 vaccine response in immunocompromised patient groups, which culminated in two randomised, controlled trials aimed at boosting vaccine responses in kidney transplant recipients through immunosuppression modification with mTOR inhibitors, and through targeted modification of patients’ gut microbiomes.

Dr. Perkins is a member of the Transplant Society of Australia and New Zealand (TSANZ) Early Career Researcher Committee, and last year received the TSANZ President’s Prize and the KI Reviewer of the Year Award. Research interests include transplant infectious diseases, humoral and cellular mechanisms of tolerance in transplantation and allergy, and the application of detailed immunology to the clinic.

The ISN-KI Editorial Fellows will be acknowledged in the Editors’ Pick of ISN Journals: KI and KIR session taking place Saturday, April 1, 2023, 08:30-10:00 Bangkok time, in MR 110 ABC.
