KI Best Reviewer
Dr. Johannes Schlondorff is a nephrologist at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston, MA, USA. His research interests include understanding the glomerular filtration barrier, how it is maintained, and the pathological processes that lead to its failure and subsequent glomerulosclerosis. His laboratory focuses on developing cellular and animal models to further our mechanistic understanding of genetic forms of focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) in humans. His research has helped elucidate the effects of disease-causing mutations in ACTN4, INF2 and TRPC6 on the biochemical properties of these proteins, and on podocyte function. In addition to pursuing bench research, he remains active in inpatient and outpatient nephrology, and enjoys supervising and mentoring the clinical nephrology fellows.
