Idris Boudhabhay
ISN-KI Early Career Researcher: Basic Science
Idris Boudhabhay is an adult nephrologist working in Necker Hospital in Paris, France. He started studying medicine in Rouen University and specialized in nephrology in Paris University. Idris did a master’s degree in immunology between 2018 and 2019 (Immunopathology, Paris University). His favorite topics of research in nephrology are complement-mediated diseases, endothelium in health and disease, glomerulopathies, and arterial hypertension.
His passion for complement biology began during his first year of residency, studying the case of a patient with post-transplant recurrence of C3 glomerulopathy leading to the discovery of a new homozygous variant of Complement Factor I gene, later published in Kidney International Reports (PMID: 31517156). Through this case, he met Prof. Lubka Roumenina, who accepted him onto her team to study complement involvement in rhabdomyolysis which led us to this amazing project published in Kidney international (PMID: 33137339).
Next year, he will rejoin Lubka Roumenina’s team to begin his PhD in immunology and continue the rhabdomyolysis project.
Dr. Boudhabhay was named one of the ISN-KI Early Career Researchers for Basic Science for his paper ‘Complement activation is a crucial driver of acute kidney injury in rhabdomyolysis.’
The ISN-KI Early Career Researchers will be acknowledged in the Editors’ Pick of ISN Journals: KI and KIR session taking place Sunday, February 27, 2022, 19:30-21:00 MYT (12:30-14:00 CET) in Room 4.
