What has been the impact of the World Kidney Day campaign in your location so far?
World Kidney Day (WKD) alone is not enough to have an impact in my area. However, the increase in radio emissions and training workshops associated with WKD begin to show results. The result is technical now. Consultations on nephrology are faster. Some diabetics and patients with HIV come alone and the paramedics refer them more quickly. With regard to our public authorities, they are still not very sensitive to the distress of patients with renal disease and WRD has changed nothing. We will continue to organize awareness, radio programs and mass screening over World Kidney Day. We will continue paramedic nurses training to improve the early detection of kidney disease. If we had a wish, it would be to see the creation of a dialysis center in my hospital CHU-Kara.
World Kidney Day (WKD), a joint initiative of the International Society of Nephrology (ISN) and the International Federation of Kidney Foundations (IFKF), is a global campaign that aims to raise awareness of the importance of our kidneys to overall health and to reduce the frequency and impact of kidney disease and its associated health problems.
