What has been the impact of the World Kidney Day campaign in your location so far?
Russia joined celebrating WKD in 2010, and since that time, all WKD Editorials had been translated into Russian, published in the Nephrology Russian-language journals and attached to the program booklets of the WKD meetings. Meetings and conferences for practitioners started in 2012 in Moscow first, and later – in many other cities, complemented with CKD screening days, runs for kidneys, podcasts, schools for the kidney patients and other related activities. Last years, WKD webpages and visual materials had been translated into Russian. All that resulted in the better recognition of the importance of kidney diseases among community and policy-makers and facilitated advocacy for kidney health. We hope that the WKD theme “Kidney Health for all” will be adopted in Russia not only by nephrologists, for whom it is essential, but also by the other health-workers and public. My personal hope is to devote one of the next WKD to the kidney problems in the patients with malignancies
World Kidney Day (WKD), a joint initiative of the International Society of Nephrology (ISN) and the International Federation of Kidney Foundations (IFKF), is a global campaign that aims to raise awareness of the importance of our kidneys to overall health and to reduce the frequency and impact of kidney disease and its associated health problems.
