| Descriptor: | The Interventional Nephrology Course is designed for physicians and associate health providers and offers a unique opportunity to learn the fundamentals and nuances of evidence-based dialysis vascular access care, as well as techniques of establishing PD catheter access and managing common access complications. The video-based workshops presenting actual procedures with patients will be led by world experts, and will feature learning of procedures such as performing PD catheter insertion techniques such as Modified Seldinger, open surgical dissection, fluoroscopic, and laparoscopic/peritoneoscopic, as well as nuances of Vascular access such as percutaneous AVF creation, tunneled hemodialysis catheter insertion, endovascular procedures (PTA, thrombectomy, stent insertion, accessory vein obliteration, and endovascular banding) that are essential to manage dysfunctional vascular access. Improving technique survival, as well issues pertaining to the peritoneal membrane, volume management and peritonitis will be reviewed. In light of the changing landscape of medical care, remote monitoring of PD patients, and the use of PD in times of crisis will be discussed. |
| Descriptor: | Renal biopsy examination plays an important role in the diagnosis and management of medical renal diseases, providing prognostic information as well as aid in therapeutic decision making. The renal pathology course offers an in-depth update of the various kidney lesions commonly encountered along with potential utility of ancillary techniques. This course also describes recent insights into the pathophysiologic aspects of diseases and recommendations for further molecular and genetic studies, where necessary.
A range of the glomerular, tubulointerstitial and vascular lesions of the kidney will be discussed along with problematic areas in transplant pathology.
