Dr. Wai Lim is a consultant nephrologist, the medical director of kidney transplantation, and head of the Department of Renal Medicine and Transplantation at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital in Nedlands, Australia. He is a professor renal medicine at Edith Cowan University in Joondalup, Australia, and a clinical professor of medicine at the University of Western Australia. He is the co-chair of the Transplantation Society of Australia and New Zealand Scientific Program Education Committee.
Dr. Lim holds a PhD in transplant immunology focussing on dendritic cells and chronic kidney disease. His current research interests focus on the role of HLA and epitope matching in kidney allocation for transplantation, novel immunological risk profile and identifying novel risk factors, and intervention to reduce the risk of cardiovascular complications in kidney transplant patients. He is the associate editor for Transplant International, Nephrology, and Frontiers in Immunology and is on the editorial board for Kidney International.
