2025-2027 ISN-KI Editorial Fellow

ISN-KI Editorial Fellows are early–career professionals and academics working in the field of nephrology, dialysis, and transplantation, who work and learn with the Kidney International® editorial team for two years.

Dr. Nahid Tabibzadeh is an assistant professor of physiology and a nephrologist at Kidney Physiology and Tubulopathies, Cordeliers Research Center, Université Paris Cité, France, specializing in kidney physiology and nephrotoxicity. She bridges clinical expertise and translational research to explore kidney microvascularization and tubular function in health and in chronic kidney disease, with a focus on innovative models such as organoids.

Dr. Tabibzadeh’s work on lithium-associated nephrotoxicity has contributed to the field, securing national grants, including two French Ministry of Health grants for clinical trials (CiRUS and AMIND) and basic research funding from the French National Kidney Foundation and the National Research Agency. Her interest in nephrology and basic science research was greatly influenced by her patients, teachers, and mentors. Her primary research interest focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms involved in the pathogenesis of collecting duct remodeling during lithium treatment.

An alumnus of Sorbonne Université in Paris, Dr. Tabibzadeh earned her MD-PhD with a focus on medullary structures and kidney pathophysiology. She acquired her clinical and experimental skills during fellowships in Hôpital Tenon, Inserm, in Paris, and Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School, in Boston, Massachusetts, USA. Her time at Harvard was supported by a Fulbright Program-Monahan Foundation scholarship for French researchers. She will be transitioning to a position in the Nephrology Division at Massachusetts General Hospital starting July 1, 2025.

The ISN-KI Editorial Fellows will be recognized at the World Congress of Nephrology (WCN) in The ISN-KI/KIR Editorial Fellows Session: The Best of 2024/25 Articles, on Saturday, February 8, 2025, from 9:45-11:15 a.m.
