Young Nephrologists Abstract Award: Best Clinical Science

ISN Young Nephrologists Abstract Awards recognize the best WCN’25 abstracts submitted for basic science and clinical science as determined by the ISN Young Nephrologists Committee.

Dr. Andrea Angeletti is a medical doctor and researcher in the Laboratory on Molecular Nephrology, Division of Nephrology, Dialysis and Transplantation, at the IRCCS Institute Giannina Gaslini in Genoa, Italy. He  graduated in medicine and surgery from the University of Bologna in Italy in 2011 and received a specialization in nephrology with the highest honors in 2016. He was a postdoctoral researcher in the Translational Transplant Research Center at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, New York, USA, headed by Prof. Peter Heeger and principal investigator Prof Paolo Cravedi. He focused on the role of the complement cascade in immune nephrological disease and investigated the immune role of erythropoietin. He obtained a Ph.D. in nephrological sciences in 2021 at the University of Bologna and is now a Ph.D. candidate in pediatric sciences at the University of Genoa, Italy.

Dr. Angeletti is currently involved in studies on immune aspects of nephrotic syndrome and kidney transplants, supported by the Italian Ministry of Health.
