Pre-Congress Program

WCN’25 pre-congress courses

Pre-congress Courses are a highly anticipated feature of the ISN World Congress.

The pre-congress program on Thursday, February 6, offers in-depth courses that explore specific topics and encourage participation through interactive platforms, case presentations, live demonstrations, and discussion sessions.

The 2025 lineup sees a return of popular topics as well as some exciting new ones:

  • Annual Review of Nephrology Course
  • Hands-on Masterclass in Nephrology: Interventional Nephrology, Dialysis, and POCUS Course
  • Navigating Kidney Care Symposium: From Guidelines to Practice, Personalized Care, and Quality of Life
  • Renal Pathology Course
  • Conservative Kidney Management Course
  • Primer Course in Glomerular Disease: A Case-based Approach

The Annual Review of Nephrology course, featuring updates on the latest advances in the field, is presented by leading experts and designed to keep you at the forefront of nephrology.

This course covers three critical areas:

  1. Managing end-stage kidney disease with the latest on HIF-PH inhibitors, volume management, and phosphorus control
  2. Treating diabetic kidney disease, focusing on insights related to SGLT2-inhibitors, GLP1-antagonists, and mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists
  3. Addressing challenging electrolyte cases in the intensive care unit

Engage with faculty during each session, which includes interactive Q&A, fostering a collaborative learning environment.

This course is designed for nephrologists and healthcare professionals, offering an integrative approach, combining interventional nephrology, dialysis, and point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) techniques.

This comprehensive course covers essential procedures, including kidney biopsy, hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis catheter insertion, dialysis techniques, and POCUS applications for the kidney, heart, lungs, and VExUS.

Each session follows a relevant case study, illustrating the unified application of these nephrology strategies in enhancing patient care and outcomes.

The renal pathology course offers an in-depth look at the crucial role of renal biopsy in prognosis and therapeutic decision-making.

Stay informed on the latest advances in kidney disease pathology, with cutting-edge insights into the pathophysiology of diseases and emerging technologies reshaping nephropathology research and diagnostics.

The clinicopathological conference, led by renowned international experts, presents real-world biopsy cases to sharpen your diagnostic skills and enhance your understanding of complex renal conditions.

This course, based on the ISN Curriculum on Kidney Supportive Care (KSC) and Conservative Kidney Management (CKM), highlights the ISN’s endorsement of these essential components of integrated kidney care.

Participants will systematically explore the core elements of KSC and CKM, including strategies for managing kidney failure without kidney replacement therapy, symptom management, communication skills, and transitioning to end-of-life care.

With a focus on practical applications and a multidisciplinary approach, the course also addresses global challenges in KSC and CKM service provision, particularly in low- and middle-income countries, equipping participants with the knowledge to navigate these complexities effectively.

This case-based course provides a thorough review of common glomerular diseases encountered by physicians worldwide.

Through engaging discussions on the epidemiology, diagnosis, histopathology, and management of these conditions, participants will gain an enhanced understanding of clinical presentations and the fundamentals of renal histopathology.

The course also offers an evidence-based review of therapeutic agents and treatment guidelines, with ample opportunity to engage with faculty and discuss complex treatment decisions where clinical evidence may be limited.
