How did the ISN support enable you to advance kidney health in your home country?
My two year-fellowship focusing on Adult Polycystic Kidney Disease (ADPKD) under the mentorship of Prof. Shrier in 2010 was very productive, I published six manuscripts and a book chapter. When I returned to Tunisia, I was promoted associate professor of nephrology at school of medicine in Tunis. I served as general secretary and chair of scientific committee of Tunisian society of Nephrology. We organized the 5th Maghrebian congress of nephrology in Tunisia. I am also an active member of the research laboratory of kidney disease at Charles Nicolle Hospital developing and writing research protocols and mentoring renal fellows. I am so grateful to ISN and my mentor Pr. Schrier. I am very saddened by the recent loss of Prof. Schrier.
What does the future look like?
I would like to be more involved in our African continent; therefore, I presented myself at the ISN election for the regional Board Deputy Chair/Council member in my region. I would also like to develop and promote more meetings and activities in Maghreb in the future.
