Join the webinar on “Kidney disease in the public health agenda”
Nature Reviews Nephrology will host the webinar “Kidney disease in the public health agenda” on April 28.
The webinar will examine the role of kidney disease within the broader noncommunicable disease (NCD) agenda, highlighting its relevance to the 4th UN High-level Meeting on NCDs and achieving Sustainable Development Goal 3.4 — to reduce premature mortality from NCDs by one-third. Confirmed speakers include:
- ISN President Marcello Tonelli
- ASN President Prabir Roy-Chaudhury
- European Renal Association President Roser Torra
- Guatemalan Minister of Health Joaquin Barnoya
The discussion aligns with the international consensus statement “Chronic kidney disease and the global public health agenda: an international consensus,” led by the ISN, the American Society of Nephrology, and the European Renal Association. Published in Nature Reviews Nephrology in 2024, the statement urges the WHO to prioritize kidney disease as a major NCD.

The webinar also contributes to the growing momentum ahead of the proposed WHO resolution “Reducing the burden of noncommunicable diseases through the promotion of kidney health and strengthening prevention and control of kidney disease,” initiated and led by Guatemala, which United Nations Member States will vote on at the 78th World Health Assembly in May.
