ISN-GKHA 2023 findings feature in PLOS Global Public Health roundtable
PLOS Global Public Health recently hosted a roundtable with the lead authors of ISN-Global Kidney Health Atlas (ISN-GKHA) articles they published earlier this year.
The authors highlight key insights from their research, which examined disparities in the availability, affordability, quality, and access to kidney care services across countries categorized by World Bank income group classifications.

A blog post accompanying the collection highlights the main findings, policy implications, and future research directions. Read here.
Read the individual papers in PLOS Global Public Health:
- “Landscape of kidney replacement therapy provision in low- and lower-middle-income countries: A multinational study from the ISN-GKHA,” by Nkunu and Tungsanga et al.
- “Global availability of medications and health technologies for kidney care: A multinational study from the ISN-GKHA,” by Kelly et al.
- “Disparities in kidney care in vulnerable populations: A multinational study from the ISN-GKHA,” by Erickson and Kamath et al.
- “A global snapshot on health systems capacity for detection, monitoring, and management of acute kidney injury: A multinational study from the ISN-GKHA,” by Wainstein et al.
- “Regional hotspots for chronic kidney disease: A multinational study from the ISN-GKHA,” by Garcia et al.
The ISN-GKHA data clearly highlights the urgent need for greater global and national prioritization of kidney health to reduce global inequities in access to kidney care.
