ISN endorses Croatian conference and supports AFRAN 2025  

The ISN endorses educational and scientific events that help advance kidney care.* In April, ISN representatives will participate in the 1st International Conference of Doctors and Students in Nephrology in Croatia, and the Congress of the African Association of Nephrology (AFRAN).

Kidney in focus: Young physicians leading the way 

April 10-13, 2025 Zagreb, Croatia 

ISN President Marcello Tonelli will provide a pre-recorded welcome message to open the conference.  

AFRAN 2025 Congress  

April 15-18, 2025 Tunis, Tunisia 

AFRAN 2025 comprises the following events: 

  • 18th Congress of the African Association of Nephrology 
  • 9th North African Congress of Nephrology  
  • 12th Congress of the Tunisian Society of Nephrology, Dialysis, and Kidney Transplantation 

The meeting provides a fitting occasion to present the ISN 2025 Pioneer Award for the ISN Africa region to Boucar Diouf from Senegal.   

ISN President Marcello Tonelli will introduce the Pioneer Award and deliver the keynote “The burden of CKD and other NCDs in Africa: Opportunities and challenges for health systems” at the opening ceremony on April 15, 6-7:30 p.m.   Africa time (convert to your time zone here).  

Abdou Niang, AFRAN president-elect and president of the Senegalese Society of Nephrology, Dialysis and Transplantation, will highlight Professor Emeritus Diouf’s extensive achievements, which include founding the Fellowship Nephrology and Nephrology Nurse Diplomas at Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar, Senegal, being a founding member and first president of the Senegalese Society of Nephrology, Dialysis, and Transplantation, president of AFRAN (2011-13), and leading and promoting kidney care in West Africa.  

The ISN Continuing Medical Education Grant Program supports the upcoming AFRAN meeting, where distinguished ISN speakers will share their expertise across various sessions.

Additionally, attendees are invited to the “ISN breakfast session: ISN programs and opportunities,” presenting the ongoing work and potential of ISN grants and initiatives. ISN staff will be on-site with a booth at the conference.
