Dr. Hafiz especially appreciated the content on podocyte-related gene variants, pregnancy and renal diseases, and digital and AI-assisted pathology. Following the course, Dr. Hafiz said he now recognized the importance of considering all clinical and laboratory data before reaching a diagnosis. He added, “Attending the WCN25 pathology course was a highly enriching experience, offering the chance to learn from leading experts and real-world clinical scenarios. Learning directly from their experiences and challenges offered a deeper understanding beyond textbooks. It also provided valuable updates on the latest diagnostic guidelines and evolving consensus, ensuring alignment with current best practices.”

Nada Sellami from the Charles Nicolle Hospital in Tunis, Tunisia, received an ISN Renal Pathology Bursary to attend the two-day course “Renal Pathology for the Nephrologist” at the Imperial College in London held in January 2025. She followed the course’s online components. The ISN thanks the course organizers, notably course director Candice Roufosse, for facilitating Dr. Sellami’s attendance.

Noting the richness of the program, the world-renowned experts, and the interesting discussions during the sessions, Dr. Sellami commented, “This program allowed me to strengthen my knowledge of renal pathology lesions that a nephrologist can face in daily practice. We went through the most frequent nephropathies, mainly the glomerular ones, but also vascular and tubulo-interstitial ones. It was very interesting because the faculty shared their personal experiences and took the time to answer different questions from attendees.

The course gave me confidence in assessing controversial or unclear lesions in my daily practice as I am in co-charge of reading biopsy slides and writing biopsy reports in my department.”

These are two of five renal pathology events that ISN Renal Bursary awardees will attend in 2025.
