WCN’25 Social Media Team member Suman Behera interviewed Professor Tonelli at WCN’25:
In the interview, Professor Tonelli reflected on his priorities as he guides the ISN’s mission to improve global kidney care:
“In my role at ISN, the thing that I’m most excited about is continuing to work with our partners like the World Health Organization, like the regional kidney societies, the regional boards. There’s a huge momentum behind kidney disease, getting a resolution on kidney health, driving progress towards the fourth high-level meeting on non-communicable disease […] that’s how we’re going to drive progress for our patients and for families affected by kidney disease.”
Despite his global focus, Professor Tonelli remains connected to the day-to-day realities of kidney care. He comments, “One of the things I still most look forward to is attending on the ward service. I still love seeing patients, meeting with families, looking at those complicated problems.“
