Who Are the ISN Emerging Leaders Cohort 3 Members and How Are They Progressing in the Program?

In April 2024, Emerging Leaders Program (ELP) participants (cohort 3) officially started their term at WCN’24 in Buenos Aires.

Over the next two years, they will engage in collaborative leadership and problem-solving training to learn to meaningfully impact global kidney health initiatives.

Each ELP member has been appointed as an observer in an ISN working group or committee and ISN regional boards to learn how these groups help to execute the ISN’s strategy and global mission and to contribute to their activities.

In May, the group participated in a webinar with the WHO Director of Communications, Ms. Gabriella Stern, to discuss leadership, communication, and advocacy, focusing on how young people can leverage advocacy tools to influence the global health agenda.

Additionally, they attended the workshop “Insights Discovery – A Roadmap for Personal and Professional Effectiveness,” designed to improve their understanding of themselves and others, achieve peak performance, and collaborate successfully.

As part of the program, participants meet virtually for monthly calls. During these meetings, members are asked to present a “creative output” — any type of original work showcasing their experiences and ideas.

Sharing creative outputs allows members to learn from each other, foster a collaborative environment, understand better the differentiated nature of global kidney work, and build a strong professional network — essential qualities for future leaders in kidney care.
