Developing a Genetic Testing Panel for Evaluation of Morbidities In Kidney Transplant Recipients

The authors developed a comprehensive gene panel to identify monogenic conditions associated with major post-transplant complications in kidney transplant recipients (KTR).

They analyzed exome sequencing data from 1590 KTR and found diagnostic variants in genes linked to Mendelian kidney disorders and transplant-related morbidity. They also found variants related to cardiovascular disease, malignancy, immunodeficiency, and thrombophilia, highlighting the potential for personalized transplant care and substantial clinical benefits in transplant management.

Advances of Iron and Ferroptosis in Diabetic Kidney Disease

The authors summarize the current understanding of iron homeostasis and ferroptosis in the progression of diabetic kidney disease, highlighting the impact of adaptive and maladaptive responses regulating iron metabolism.

They propose that precise manipulation of iron metabolism and ferroptosis may serve as potential strategies for kidney management in diabetes.
