In May, the ISN supported three speakers to deliver talks in French at the 6th Congress of the Ivoirian Society of Nephrology in Grand-Bassam, Ivory Coast. Dr. Hubert Yao, one of the meeting organizers, commented on the importance of the congress content: “More than 90% of our patients are diagnosed with end-stage chronic kidney disease. There is a waiting list for hemodialysis in our country, so we need a prevention policy and an understanding of other modalities of replacement therapy, such as peritoneal dialysis, as well as increased access to renal transplantation.”

Also in May, the ISN supported three speakers to present an ISN CME course: “Update in Nephrology and Transplantation” at the 6th Congress of Nephrology Bosnia and Herzegovina:  Professor Ziad Massy (France), Professor Sanjin Racki (Croatia) and Professor Raymond Vanholder (Belgium).

The course included workshops on induction therapy for living-related and cadaveric kidney transplants, treatment strategies for patients experiencing acute graft rejection, and nursing care demonstrations.

One of the meeting organizers, Professor Damir Rebić, said the meeting provided an effective platform for “A very effective discussion on how to improve the transplantation program in Bosnia and Herzegovina.”
