Prioritizing Kidney Care: The ISN and Devex to Hold Event on Lifesaving Kidney Therapies at the WHA77 on May 29
The ISN is collaborating with Devex for the second consecutive year to discuss expanding global kidney care.

The event, “Advancing Kidney Care for All: Expanding Access to Lifesaving Therapies,” will take place on the occasion of the 77th session of the World Health Assembly in Geneva, Switzerland, on May 29, 2024, from
9-10 a.m. CEST.
Experts, including ISN Advocacy Working Group Chair Valerie Luyckx, President of the European Kidney Patients Federation Daniel Gallego, Medical Officer at the World Health Organization, Dr. Bianca Hemmingsen, Policy & Advocacy Director at NCD Alliance Alison Cox, and World Organization of Family Doctors Immediate Past President Anna Stavdal, will explore key aspects of ensuring universal kidney health, including:
- Increasing awareness and diagnosis of chronic kidney disease (CKD),
- Improving access to quality care and medication, especially in areas without access to dialysis
- Strengthening the capacity of healthcare professionals
- Advocating for the worldwide provision of tools and medication for kidney health
- Encouraging a holistic approach to managing NCDs
In addition, strategies for implementing comprehensive, multisectoral approaches to CKD will be discussed. Patient insights are central to the event, emphasizing disparities in treatment access and care.
The ISN seeks to raise kidney disease on the global health agenda through the event and advocate for its prioritization in international and national health policies.
