Topics covered included terminology, evaluation, treatment of native disease, Factor H antibody and treatment, transplant, and non-complement genetic causes.
Raising awareness of aHUS in kidney care is crucial given its rarity, distinctive pathophysiology, potential for recurrence, impact on multiple organs, and the advent of targeted therapies. Raising awareness can improve early diagnosis and patient outcomes and create a better support network for those living with this challenging condition.
