A Snapshot of the Burden of Kidney Disease and Care Status Worldwide: Look Out for the Launch of the 2023 ISN-Global Kidney Health Atlas at WCN’23
The ISN-Global Kidney Health Atlas (ISN-GKHA) provides a snapshot of health system characteristics and elements specific to chronic kidney disease (CKD) and kidney failure across countries and regions according to the WHO’s “building blocks” of health systems. The atlas is updated every four years.

Overall, 167 countries representing 97.4% of the world’s population responded to the survey providing a comprehensive understanding of the current status of global and regional capacity to provide care for people living with CKD and kidney failure.
The findings provide information for advocacy efforts toward the development of strategies for optimal kidney care.

- The organization, structures and services for kidney care including funding, policies, guidelines & frameworks, workforce.
- Scorecard in the trends for resources and capacity for kidney care across world regions and countries.
- People living with kidney disease’s perspectives on optimal kidney care around the world.
