ISN Educational Ambassador Program Facilitates Hybrid Course on Clinical and Interventional Nephrology in Egypt

Participants are instructed on point-of-care ultrasound at a workshop at the ISN Ambassadors training program in Egypt

An ISN Educational Ambassadors (EA) training program was held at Dikirnis Central Hospital in Dakahlia, Egypt, in July.

The sessions, led by ISN Educational Ambassador Prof. Ahmed Akl, and

Dr. Ahmed Albeyaly, director of Dakahlia Ministry of Health, nephrology sector, comprised a series of in-person, hands-on, and online interactive training sessions on clinical and interventional nephrology.

One hundred and fifty-seven attendees completed the course, introduced by the EA Committee chair, Dr. Gavin Dreyer. One hundred and twelve doctors, nurses and medical students attended the in-person components.

Hands-on sessions included content on point-of-care ultrasound, peritoneal dialysis, and catheter insertion.

A panel of international experts presented career tips for young nephrologists in an online session. The panel included ISN member-experts Urmila Anandh (India), Rolando Claure-Del Granado (Bolivia), Intissar Haddiya (Morocco), Augusto Cesar S. Santos Jr. (Brazil),  Manjusha Yadla (India), and Faissal Shaheen (Saudi Arabia).

Through the EA Program, the ISN has supported or endorsed several such training sessions organized by Dr. Akl over the past few years, including the first hybrid edition last year.
