The ISN Presents at the World NCD Congress 2022 to Highlight Global Kidney Health Concerns
The second high-level World NCD Congress, organized by the University of Michigan Medical School and the World NCD Federation, was held from June 9 to 11, 2022.
The symposium, “Precision Medicine and Prevention of Chronic Disease,” was moderated by ISN i3C (International Consortium CKDu Collaborators) Working Group Chair Shuchi Anand and ISN Education Working Group Chair Roberto Pecoits-Filho. During this session, Shuchi Anand delivered the talk: ‘CKDu Around the World – What We Have Learned so Far?’
The ISN welcomed comments from Dr. Bente Mikkelsen, director of WHO’s Department for NCDs, highlighting the importance of the organization’s cooperation with partners such as the ISN in the endeavor to improve global action on NCDs like kidney disease.
The ISN fully endorses the importance of using data and knowledge to foster NCD prevention, as outlined by Dr. Soumya Swaminathan, WHO’s chief scientist and former key speaker at the ISN’s 2021 Global Kidney Policy Forum.
The ISN’s contribution at the congress follows input supporting the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases at the recent 75th World Health Assembly. ISN advocacy will continue working alongside the WHO and other international partners to decrease the burden of kidney disease by addressing its root causes and promoting early detection.
