ISN community welcomes new ISN President

Meet ISN President Vivekanand Jha (2019-2021) as he shares his thoughts and aspirations in his first video testimony.

Vivekanand Jha has begun his tenure as ISN President and will lead the Society until April 2021.

As Executive Director at The George Institute for Global Health (India) and a Professor of Nephrology at University of Oxford, he is recognized as an expert on the burden of kidney disease and its socio-economic impact on low-middle income countries. Having joined the ISN community as an ISN Fellow, Prof Jha set up his own laboratory at PGIMER, Chandigarh based on the experience he gained through the ISN Fellowship program. Watch more, HERE.

Speaking about his hopes over the next two years, he says there will be a consolidation of the ISN programs and a focus on developing a holistic approach to care, which includes physician and non-physician healthcare workers and other partners such as the World Health Organization.

He recently observed: ‘ISN aims to move towards the goal of universal healthcare for patients with kidney disease, in line with the United Nations sustainable development goals. We would also continue the capacity building programs by increasing the push on developing research capacity around the world. This permits us to do high-quality studies that seek to answer the important clinical question and add to the evidence base that drives quality healthcare delivery.’

Vivekanand Jha became the ISN President during the ISN World Congress of Nephrology in Melbourne, Australia. Discover the new Executive Committee and Council members who will play an integral part in strategically leading the ISN community over the next two years.
