The ISN-Global Kidney Health Atlas (ISN-GKHA) is a worldwide survey assessing current kidney care capacity.
Early detection and management of chronic kidney disease (CKD) are crucial to preventing kidney failure. A survey of 167 countries revealed significant disparities: Only 19% had CKD registries, and only 25% implemented CKD detection programs in their national policies. Routine case-finding was common for people living with diabetes and hypertension. However, limited access to tools like glomerular filtration rate and urine albumin-creatinine ratio, particularly in low and lower-middle-income countries, hinders CKD detection. Global efforts are needed to address these disparities and improve CKD prevention.
