The ISN to Honor Merle Clarke With the North America and Caribbean Pioneer Award at Annual Caribbean International Conference
The 16th Annual Caribbean International Conference on Nephrology and Hypertension will take place in a hybrid format on January 27, 2024, in Mona, Jamaica.
The meeting provides a fitting occasion to present the ISN 2023 Pioneer Award for the ISN North America and the Caribbean region to Merle L. Clarke from Saint Lucia.
Dr. Clarke commented, “I am infinitely humbled to receive this award. It indeed goes to show that with teamwork, dedication, and determination to serve others, anything is possible.”
ISN President Masaomi Nangaku will introduce the Pioneer Award and highlight ISN activities and opportunities in the region in a pre-recorded talk on January 27 at 8:25 a.m. Eastern Standard Time (convert to your time zone here).
Shuchi Anand, North America and Caribbean Regional Board chair, will highlight Dr. Clarke’s extensive achievements, which include being Saint Lucia’s first indigenous nephrologist, campaigning for CKD prevention and healthier lifestyles, lobbying for increased access to kidney replacement therapy, and being the host of the Saint Lucia Medical and Dental Association medical program ‘Healthwise.’
