Irma Tchokhonelidze to Receive the ISN NIS and Russia Pioneer Award at Upcoming Regional Meeting on Cadaveric Transplantation in Georgia
The Kidney and Solid Organ Transplantation Advancement Strategy: Roadmap for Transition from Living Donation to Cadaveric Transplantation conference will take place from September 13-14, 2023, in Tbilisi, Georgia. It is the first joint conference of the South Caucasian countries Armenia, Georgia and Azerbaijan.
The ISN will present Irma Tchokhonelidze (Georgia) with the ISN 2023 Pioneer Award for the ISN NIS and Russia region at the event. Among other notable accomplishments, Dr. Tchokhonelidze founded the Nephrology Development Clinical Center in 2011 to help advance nephrology in Georgia.
The presentation will take place on September 14 from 9-9:30 a.m. Georgia Standard Time and will include:
- ISN President Masaomi Nangaku’s pre-recorded introduction of the Pioneer Award
- ISN NIS and Russia Regional Board Chair Larisa Prikhodina’s pre-recorded highlights of Dr. Tchokhonelidze’s extensive achievements
- Presentation of the award and certificate
The conference is organized by the Dialysis, Nephrology and Kidney Transplantation Union of Georgia and members of the ISN Sister Renal Centers Georgia-Belgium pair, recipients of the 2023 ISN Schrier Award. The conference will discuss the main challenges and obstacles in transitioning from living to cadaver transplantation in Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan.
