Two SRC pairs graduate in 2013
ISN happy to announce the names of the two sister renal centers that graduated from the ISN GO Sister Renal Center (SRC) Program recently.
The Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital in Jakarta, Indonesia paired up with the Monash Medical Center in Clayton, Australia. Thanks to the partnership, there were major developments in nephrology services at the hospital which is now able to offer a very good level of dialysis and other nephrology services.
It now acts as the major training center for nephrology in Indonesia and hosts the annual society meeting. Liaison officers Ginova Nainggolan and Charmaine DeSilva say that they would like to see an extension of these services to other parts of Indonesia.
Sanatorio Allende Hospital, Argentina and Yale University, USA have also graduated from the program. This collaboration provided training in kidney transplants. The pair put a strong focus on teamwork, learning valuable lessons from the US transplant staff. This helped them recreate the same services at Sanatorio Allende Hospital.
The ISN GO SRC program aims to enhance cooperation between nephrology centers worldwide. Its mission is to advance the practice of nephrology in the developing world by linking renal units with centers of excellence and providing different means of support and guidance.
After the centers graduate from the program, they can provide state-of-the-art clinical practice, become hubs for the diffusion of knowledge, training and implementation of disease-preventive strategies within their geographical outreach. They also potentially provide support to other centers within the same geographical region through the ISN SRC Trio Program.
