ANIO award to be presented at ASN Atlanta

ISN Past President John Feehally will receive the ANIO special service award at the ANIO annual dinner taking place this November at Kidney Week in Atlanta, Georgia.

This award will recognize John Feehally’s contributions in advancing nephrology education, science, and clinical care in India. He is a founding member and currently chair of the ISN-ANIO India Committee.

The many nephrologists of Indian origin who work in North America are members of ANIO (American Nephrologists of Indian Origin).  The ISN-ANIO India Committee builds on the expertise of ISN to bridge gaps in healthcare provision for kidney disease across India.

The Committee was established in 2010, and its members include representatives of ISN and ANIO, as well as nephrologists from India, and others from the Indian nephrology diaspora. The ISN-ANIO India Committee has raised substantial funds to support a number of innovative projects. It has now set up a renal pathology certificate program for nephrologists and pathologists in India. It also supports fellowships and apprenticeships and is launching a rural community-based epidemiology and awareness program for AKI, as well as projects to help implement deceased donor transplant programs in India.
