ISN joins global coalition for universal health coverage
On December 12, 2015 – Universal Health Coverage Day – ISN will join a growing global coalition calling for more progress to deliver Universal Health Coverage (UHC), including in kidney care.
ISN believes that everyone has the right to universal access to quality health care without suffering financial hardship and therefore supports the Coalitions’ efforts to make UHC a reality. We also call on governments to integrate kidney health in their strategies to achieve UHC and ensure that all kidney patients receive the care they need to treat and manage their condition.
ISN is now one of over 600 partners signed up to the Global Coalition for Universal Health Coverage, which includes the World Health Organisation (WHO), World Bank Group, Rockefeller Foundation and hundreds of leading NGOs, healthcare organisations and academic institutions.
The initiative started in 2012, with the unanimous adoption of a United Nations (UN) resolution urging governments to act. It has since gained momentum, especially with the recent decision to include universal health coverage in the new Sustainable Development Goals.
ISN encourages partner societies and members of the global nephrology community to join the Coalition and to mark Universal Health Coverage Day this year. This can be done in a few easy steps on the UHC, CLICK HERE.
We believe UHC Day is a great opportunity to make our voices heard and to call for kidney health for all!
