2020 Impact Factors Position Kidney International as the Top Journal Publishing Original Research in Nephrology

Clarivate’s Journal Citation Reports (JCR) have released their annual Impact Factors (IF) for 2020. Kidney International (KI) and Kidney International Reports (KIR) have increased their IFs:

KI's IF of 10.612, increased from 8.945 in 2019, establishes it as the top journal publishing original research in nephrology.
-
KIR's IF is 4.164, increased from 3.374, its first IF, in 2019.
The ISN asked Pierre Ronco, chief editor-KI, and Jai Radhakrishnan, chief editor-KIR, to share their thoughts:

This will be the seventh in a series of webinars on ethics and professionalism organized by the PSN. The goal of the series is to “proactively create a culture that reflects a professional and ethical society in the postmodern era.”

(WKD) and their ongoing involvement in developing initiatives to lower salt intake in Thailand.
To mark WKD, the NST joined forces with the Thai Lowsalt Network, the National Health Security Office (NHSO), and the Ministry of Public Health. The organizations created a series of video presentations on the benefits of treatment, medication, and exercise for patients with chronic kidney disease, and depicting the lifestyle of patients currently on hemodialysis and continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD).

Tell an Inspirational Story Through the ISN Community Film Event
Do you have an inspiring kidney story? Would you like to make a difference in the lives of kidney patients? Raise awareness of what it means to live with or treat kidney diseases by entering a short film to the ISN Community Film Event.
|
The film can be shot on any device, even a smartphone. All you need is the desire to advance kidney health by documenting a powerful story.
The competition is open to all ISN members.

The ISN is currently welcoming applications from mentors.

|

The ISN has relaunched its Mentorship Program, an initiative to foster mutually beneficial learning partnerships across the globe. The program is open to doctors and associate healthcare professionals who are ISN members.
Discover the Mentorship Program here.
This initiative offers the chance for mentors to develop their coaching and leadership skills and mentees to work alongside them toward specific goals.
Mentees can submit applications from August 1.

Apply For an ISN Fellowship Before October 1
The ISN is currently welcoming applications for ISN Fellowships. Interested candidates are encouraged to find and contact a host institution as early as possible to develop a personalized training plan.
|

|
|
The ISN Fellowship Program provides funding to young nephrologists from low and middle-income countries to receive practical training in host institutions abroad.
Dana GAUDARD, from Hôpital Universitaire de Mirebalais, Mirebalais, in Haiti, spent a year training at Centre Hospitalier Universitaire de Grenoble, Grenoble, France, as an ISN Fellow. Commenting on the experience, Dana Gaudard says, "This training increased my passion for nephrology. Now I am a young, dynamic nephrologist with big dreams for my country.
Since returning to Haiti, I have been working alongside a team to implement a nephrology unit at the University Hospital of Mirebalais to provide care to hospitalized patients in all departments with renal pathologies."

Improve Kidney Care in Your Community: Apply to the Sister Renal Centers/Sister Transplant Centers Programs
Applications to collaborate within ISN Sister Renal (SRC) or ISN-TTS Sister Transplant Center (STC) partnerships will open to ISN members in August.

The deadline to apply is October 1, 2021.
|
|
These programs have facilitated notable advances as seen with the Moscow-Finland partnership: A pediatric kidney transplant program was launched in Moscow through an SRC collaboration between a health center in Russia (emerging center) and Finland (supporting center).

In response to a lack of dietary recommendations for kidney transplant recipients, the authors review the potential risks and benefits of dietary trends, such as plant-based diets, intermittent fasting, low-carb and keto diets, and juicing, in this category of patients.
They propose the Mediterranean and DASH diets as the most beneficial
